T Levels are a suite of qualifications that have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares young people for entry into skilled employment and higher-level apprenticeships.  Ìý

Employers play a vital role in ensuring the success of T Levels. The ETF’s Industry Insights programme gives teachers exposure to current industry practice, which they can take back to their classrooms and use to shape their teaching.Ìý

How can you get involved in supporting T Level teachers?Ìý

There are several ways employers can get involved. All have been designed to be as flexible as possible, considering your personal and professional needs, timescales, and preferences. Find out how you can get involved below.

Offer in-person placements to an individual teacher

Individual visits are designed to give teachers an opportunity to shadow or work alongside an industry professional.

During a typical visit, teachers can observe current working practices, watch demonstrations of software, equipment or machinery, undertake tasks, and engage in day-to-day activities, meetings and discussions as agreed.Ìý

  • Arranged flexibly to suit youÌý
  • Lasts between one and five daysÌý
  • Face to faceÌý

Offer group visits to your organisation

Group visits provide the opportunity for teachers to observe and hear from industry professionals and develop a deeper understanding of their T Level subjects and how they are applied in industry. This could include observing current working practices, watching demonstrations of software, equipment or machinery or discussing the latest sector trends.

  • Arranged flexibly to suit youÌý
  • Visits usually held over one day

Present on a virtual group industry placement

Virtual Group Industry Placements will provide teachers with the opportunity to learn about the working practices of an employer considered a leader in their field. These online placements can be focused on latest sector trends, technologies, career opportunities for young people or hot topics.Ìý

Present on an online industry workshop

Workshops provide teachers with a bite-sized opportunity to hear from an industry professional on a key topic. All º£½ÇÉçÇø also include an opportunity for the teachers to engage in a Q&A session.Ìý

  • Workshops last between 60 and 90 minutesÌý
  • Speakers present for around 30 to 40 minutesÌý
  • Recorded for teachers to watch after the event

Who is the ETF?

The º£½ÇÉçÇø and Training Foundation (ETF) is a charity and is the expert body for professional development and standards in Further º£½ÇÉçÇø (FE) and Training in England. We have been commissioned by the Department for º£½ÇÉçÇø to develop and deliver the T Level Professional Development offer.

What are Industry Insights?

Industry Insights form part of the T Level Professional Development offer and allow staff involved in the delivery of T Levels to gain valuable experience and understanding of the subject they will be teaching by undertaking placements and virtual activities within a relevant industry. This means that learners undertaking T Levels are taught by staff with the most up-to-date knowledge from future employers.

What are T Levels?

T Levels are new qualifications, launched September 2020, which prepare learners for entry into skilled employment, or higher-level technical study or education. The courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares learners for work.
